KUK Launches 'Saksham Nari Startup' Campaign for Women

The Kurukshetra University Technology Incubation Centre (KUTIC) recently hosted the launch of the KUK ‘Saksham Nari Startup’ Campaign. The initiative aims at accelerating entrepreneurial opportunities for women and supporting women-led ventures.
Vice-Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Haryana, Prof Som Nath Sachedva remarked that women entrepreneurship are instrumental in shaping an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Underscoring the importance of entrepreneurship-led growth, he stated that universities have a responsibility to cultivate and support the business aspirations of women entrepreneurs.

Outlining the vision behind the initiative, Prof Som Nath highlighted that the platform’s core focus is to strengthen women’s economic participations by equipping aspiring entrepreneurs. The initiative becomes a platform that guides and offers mentorship, training, and institutional support to women helping them build and scale sustainable business, including transitioning them into private limited companies.
Underscoring KU’s focus on enterprise development, he also added that the institution has consistently invested in building a robust startup culture through mentorship, infrastructure and strategic guidance.
According to KUTIC Coordinator Lt Ajay Jangra, the campaign defines women-led ventures as businesses with 51 per cent or higher female ownership and extends participation opportunities to current students, alumnae, women from Haryana and qualifying women-majority enterprises.
The initiative also offers funding opportunities from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25 lakh for venture creation and growth. According to Dr Jangra, KU will also sponsor company registration expenses for successful startups, and the event marked the introduction of the newly constituted Project Action Group.
Stating the important dates, he stated that the online registrations are open until June 20 on the KUTIC platform. The shortlisted applicants will undergo a structured 15-day training programme featuring expert-led sessions from business, banking and entrepreneurial professionals.
