KSWDC establishes Project Consultancy Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Kerala

The Kerala State Women's Development Corporation (KSWDC) is establishing a project consultancy to empower women entrepreneurs, offering services like feasibility studies, financial assistance, and marketing advice. The initiative aims to support 100 female-led enterprises in its first year and create an advisory board of renowned women entrepreneurs.

The initiative offers free services to financially disadvantaged women and transgender individuals seeking to start and sustain their own businesses, including feasibility studies and marketing advice.

According to KSWDC Managing Director Bindu VC, KSWDC aims to empower educated women in the state to overcome barriers to entrepreneurship, taking part in the economic development. She noted that the number of educated women in the state is increasing, but they are hesitant to start businesses due to family priorities, lack of resources, and male-dominated competition, while employed women spend 90 per cent of their income on household chores.

The project consultancy will assist women entrepreneurs in market potential, low-interest loans, local permits, legal compliance, and funding approaches. It will also provide insights on the product marketing, taxation, and accurate accounts, boosting their confidence and offering assistance in three categories: entrepreneurship development committee, skill development intervention program, and comprehensive mentoring approach.

KSWDC, with Kudumbashree support, will collaborate with agencies and experts to support entrepreneurs in various areas, including market potential, branding, marketing, and career consultancy. An advisory committee will be formed, and social media and events will connect women entrepreneurs.
