Under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Kahalgaon unit launched a girls empowerment initiative in Bhagalpur district.
While inaugurating the celebration to mark the commencement of the girls empowerment programme, NTPC Executive Director (CSR) Rakesh Prasad stated that the company planned to carry out women empowerment initiatives in neighbouring villages of 35 project locations across the country.
He noted that as part of the empowerment campaign, girls in villages would receive basic education and health care, as well as training in self-defense in difficult situations.
"Under girls empowerment drive, we will try to propagate the message through girls to git rid of prevailing practice of social evils in the society". Girls would be encouraged to join the mainstream of society by skill development, according to Prasad.
He claimed that the empowerment push would aid the girls' psychological growth, as well as deepen their personalities. He also stated that NTPC would participate in the government's initiative to "save the girl children and educate them."
Arindam Sinha, the Kahalgaon unit's Chief General Manager (CGM), said, " girls empowerment drive would continue for four weeks in adjoining villages". He stated, "Altogether 120 +girls in the age group of 10 to 12 years would be participating in the event."
