  • The budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year was of ₹1.58 trillion
  • The budget was presented by Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore in the assembly

Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore announced an ₹1.58 trillion Jharkhand Government budget for fiscal year 2026-27 with introduction of the new "Mahila Khushhali Yojna" (women's prosperity scheme) to support women farmers.

This compares with the ₹1.45 trillion budgets that were unveiled by the JMM-led government for 2025-26. Kishore stated that the ₹1.58 trillion is a reflection of "our commitment to providing services for each of the segments of our society, such as: the poor (underprivileged), farmers (agricultural), tribals and the women."

Additionally, he stated that the Jharkhand Government plans to establish 100 new CM excellence schools in Jharkhand during the next fiscal year.

Minister expressed that although the state government faces numerous challenges due to opposition from different groups, they will continue to pursue their plans for development and further integrate everyone into the economy.

He was also critical of how much financial support has been provided by the central government to Jharkhand. For example, there is a shortfall of ₹5,000 crores in central tax shares, and there is a shortfall of ₹11,000 crores in grants in aid to Jharkhand.

Additionally, he stated that the state has incurred an extra cost of ₹5,640 crores due to the VB-G RAM G Act; furthermore, he believes the Union Government has yet to reimburse ₹1.36 trillion owed by the Union Government to state-owned Electric Utility Companies for the sale of coal to State-Owned Electric Utilities.
