In order to promote garbage segregation and public awareness about trash segregation before disposing of it, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has plans to employ 400 women from Self-Help Organizations in each ward of the Municipal Corporation. The females employed for significant work towards the welfare of the nation and its citizens will collect the waste products from door to door in the region allocated and instruct the locals about the importance of separating the garbage before disposing along with the process.
People have positively reacted to this mission of JMC in addressing community concerns. In addition to this, Rukmani Riar, Commissioner of JMC Greater is actively engaging with the residents, focusing on waste segregation techniques, gathering feedback on waste collection services, and encouraging collaboration with the NGOs and Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
The women self-help groups bifurcated in three wards are traveling door to door with their waste collection vehicle to collect waste and train the residents about waste segregation and waste management before disposing of it, says Abhishek Surana, Commissioner of JMC Heritage. This is a trial period of the respective initiative where they are receiving positive feedback from the localities. Next, they will deploy 400 selected women working in all the wards to spread mass awareness.
According to the Swachh Survekshan Survey 2023, JMC Heritage and JMC Greater have ranked 171 and 173, respectively in the cities over one lakh population in waste segregation.
