TATA WPL 2024: Delhi Capitals Defeat RCB by 25 Runs

The second edition of Tata Women's Premier League (TATA WPL) 2024 has become a worldwide craze so far. A huge number of spectators are witnessing the daily matches of the tournament. Match 7 was competed against Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore where the winning consistency of RCB in their home ground M Chinnaswamy Stadium was broken by the all-rounding performance of Delhi Capitals.

RCB won the toss and selected fielding first. DC amassed a huge score of 194 losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. The players include, Shafali Verma scored a half-century off 31 balls, A. Capsey scored 46 off 33, Marizanne Kapp made 32 off 16, Jess Jonassen scored 36* off 16 whereas Meg Lanning and Arundhati Reddy could just score 11 and 10 runs.

After the first innings DC women were finding it tough to grab RCB wickets however, after securing the wicket of Captain Smriti Mandhana, the match was in their favor. Yesterday's match was made special as Smriti Mandhana scored her first half-century in TATA WPL 2024 and more than 25,000 spectators attended the match as the stadium was packed in with all-red. She scored the highest 74 runs off 43 balls smashing 10 fours and 3 sixes. S Meghana and Richa Ghosh also gave a powerpack performance but soon after their dismissal, things went slow and one after the other 9 players were defeated. Jess Jonasen has the highest 3 wickets during the match. RCB could manage to score 169/9 in 20 overs.

Delhi Capitals made it to table toppers with 4 points at present whereas Royal Challengers Bangalore stands at second position. Player of the Match is awarded to Marizaane Kapp for her all-rounder performance of 32 off 16 and 2/35. Electric Striker of the Match was received by Jess Jonassen whereas Sintex Six of the Match was clinched by Shafali Verma.
