Indian Women's Hockey Team to Face Singapore at the Asian Games

The six-team pool A of the Asian Games Hockey Tournament will take place in Hangzhou, China from 23 September to 8 October 2023 where India has been paired with the defending champion Pakistan whereas Bangladesh, Singapore, and Uzbekistan are the other teams in this pool. Korea, Malaysia, China, Oman, Thailand, and Indonesia are the other teams in Pool B.
The Indian Women's team is in Pool A with Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, and Singapore after clinching the silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta. Pool B will comprise Japan, China, Thailand, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia.
The Women's team face off against Singapore at the inaugural match whereas the men's team will compete against Uzbekistan on 24 September.
After the approval received by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), the Asian Games will be hosted in Hangzhou and the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) jointly announced this on Tuesday.
Savita, the captain of the women's team, stated that they have been currently paired with some of the strongest teams. However, they are confident enough about their preparation and will play well in the competition.
The men's team is presently undefeated in four Games at the Hero Asian Champions Trophy that is led by Captain Harmanpreet Singh. India's first game defeated China 7-2 and had a draw with Japan 1-1. India stands at first with a strong 3-2 victory over Korea and 5-0 over Malaysia.
