  • On June 17 and 18, the Indian Women's Hockey Team will play Argentina in the FIH Pro League 2024–25 in London
  • India is currently ranked 7th with 9 points on the league table

The Indian Women’s Hockey Team is preparing to play World No. 2 Argentina in their next FIH Pro League 2024–25 games, which are set for June 17 and 18 at the Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre in London, after a fiercely contested defeat to Australia. India, which is in seventh place with nine points, expects a difficult matchup with a formidable Argentine team that is in second place in the league standings.

Captain Salima Tete commented on the upcoming fixtures: “Argentina is a top-tier team with 7 wins in 12 matches. We were always aware that they would be among our most formidable opponents in this leg. However, we've prepared a number of strategies and put in a lot of training, so we're prepared to fight“.

"We gave Australia a tough fight, and we plan to bring the same energy against Argentina,"
Vice-Captain Navneet Kaur echoed. As we proceed to play Belgium and China in Antwerp and Berlin, a victory would be a huge confidence boost.

The FIH Pro League 2024–25 (Women), the sixth edition of the prestigious international field hockey tournament, will be held from November 30, 2024, to June 29, 2025. Nine top national teams from four confederations make up the league, which is run in a home-and-away round-robin format with "mini-tournaments" held at different venues across the globe.

Top contenders include formidable nations like the Netherlands, Argentina, Australia, and Germany; India is currently ranked seventh in the league with 15 points from 14 games. Yibbi Jansen, who leads the league in goals scored with 17, is one of the players putting on impressive performances.
