
Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan grabs Bronze at 2025 ISSF World Cup Munich

Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan won a bronze medal in the women's 10m air rifle event at the ISSF World Cup in Munich with a score of 231.2 points. She improved from her fourth-place finish at the 2018 World Cup in Munich. Wang Zifei won gold with 252.7 points, while Kwon Eunji secured silver with 252.6 points.
She set a national record in the qualification round, finishing second with a score of 635.9, averaging nearly 10.6 per shot over 60 shots, while Wang Zifei set a Qualification World Record with 637.9 points. The top six qualifiers included Norway's Jeanette Hegg Duestad, Kwon Eunji, Elif Berfin Altun, and Han Jiayu, demonstrating high-level competition as the shooters scored above 634 points, advancing to the finals.
However, Indian athletes, including national champion Ananya Naidu with 632.4 points, Ramita Jindal with 632.6 points, Meghana Sajjanar, and Arya Borse, had mixed results in the qualification round, unable to qualify for the final round.
Elavenil Valarivan, an Indian top shooter in the 10m air rifle event. Born in 1999, she has won gold at the 2019 Rio de Janeiro World Cup and Putian World Cup Final, secured gold at the Asian Airgun Championships, and participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She set a national record with 635.9 points, averaging 10.6 per shot. Elavenil's performance improved from 2018's fourth-place finish at the Munich World Cup, with her composure throughout the final and a higher finish in the closing stages.
The ISSF World Cup in Munich 2025 is the third rifle/pistol stage of the season, featuring 10 events, organized at the Olympic Shooting Range from June 8 to June 15.
