India's junior women's hockey team secured a 3-2 victory over Belgium in their European tour, marking their third consecutive win at the Hockey Centre of Excellence in Wilrijkse Plein, Antwerp. Sonam (4'), Lalthantluangi (32'), and Kanika Siwach (51') scored for India, while Belgium responded with goals from Marie Goenns (37') and Marte Marie (40'). The win marks India's third consecutive win against Belgium and sets them up for the FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup 2025 in Chile later this December.
India scored first with Sonam's field goal in the 4th minute, maintaining a 1-0 lead. The visitors doubled their lead in the third quarter after Lalthantluangi converted a penalty corner in the 32nd minute. However, Belgium bounced back, scoring twice, with Goenns converting a penalty stroke in the 37th minute, followed by Marte Marie scoring a field goal in the 40th minute, leveling the match at 2-2.
India secured a hard-fought win in the fourth quarter with a penalty corner converted by Kanika in the 51st minute, restoring their lead.
India's junior women's hockey team has secured three consecutive victories against Belgium during their European tour. The team took an early lead, extended it in the third quarter, and secured the win with a late penalty corner conversion. India's resilience and tactical discipline were praised in the thrilling encounters. The team is set to face Australia and the Netherlands in upcoming matches. These matches serve as crucial preparation for the FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup 2025 in Santiago, Chile.
