Following the precedence set by the Indian men’s cricket team, the Indian women’s cricket team is also expected to continue with the ‘no-handshake’ policy against the Pakistan cricket team. This move has been a key point of controversy during the recently held Men’s Asia Cup 2025.

The Indian women’s team emerged victorious in their first World Cup match, which was played against the co-hosts, Sri Lanka. The Indian Women’s team is all set to go up against arch-rivals, Pakistan in their upcoming match which will be played in Colombo on October 5.

As per reports, the Indian team will not shake hands with the Pakistani players. Similar to the male counterparts, this will be followed before and after the match.
As the much awaited World Cup has begun, the Indian side has been off to a great start. India’s star performer and all-round player, Deepti Sharma, became the first Indian bowler to score a fifty and take a three-fer in a World Cup match.

The women in blue played their first match on Tuesday, Sep 1 against Sri Lanka. The match saw the Indian side recover from a tough situation to score a 59-run win (DLS method) against co-hosts Sri Lanka.
