India secure 5-0 Win over Malaysia at Women's Junior Asia Cup in Muscat

The Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team secured a 5-0 victory over Malaysia in their Pool A match at the Women's Junior Asia Cup in Muscat, Oman. Deepika scored a hat-trick, while Vaishnavi Phalke and Kanika Siwach added goals. This marks India's third consecutive victory over Malaysia in the tournament's history, following a 13-1 victory over Bangladesh. India capitalized on the momentum and delivered a commanding performance.
During the first quarter, India started strong but missed several opportunities, earning three penalty corners. Malaysia's goalkeeper Nur Zainal saved Deepika's attempts. India continued to dominate in the second quarter but gave away possession. Malaysia tried to break through India's defense, but the backline held firm.
Team India came determined during the second half of the match as they took a commanding lead in the third quarter, scoring four consecutive goals. They capitalized on a penalty corner in the 32nd minute, where Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke struck the ball into the net. India scored a second goal in the 37th minute due to a penalty corner conversion by Deepika. India then counterattacked with a goal from Kanika Siwach and a penalty stroke from Deepika. India scored a hat-trick in the final quarter, due to Deepika's low-driven shot, bringing the score to 5-0.
India will play against China on December 11, 2024.
