Hockey India Announces 20-Member Team for Women's Junior Asia Cup

The 20-member team for the upcoming women’s Junior Asia Cup has been announced by Hockey India. The federation has named Jyoti Singh as the leader of the pack for the tournament which will be played from December 7 to 15 in Muscat, Oman. Sakshi Rana has been chosen as the vice-captain.
Team India is the defending champion and hopes to build a successful campaign in the 2024 edition of the Women’s Junior Asia Cup.
This competition is a prelude to the 2025 FIH Hockey Junior World Cup. The country that will host the event has not yet been decided.
Ten teams will participate in the competition, split into two pools. India is a part of Pool A and is joined by China, Malaysia, Thailand, and Bangladesh. Pool B includes South Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong China, and Sri Lanka.
Protecting the goal will be Nidhi and Aditi Maheshwari, with Manisha, Jyoti Singh, Lalthantluangi, Pooja Sahoo, and Mamata Oram manning the defense section. Deepika, Beauty Dungdung, Kanika Siwach, Mumtaz Khan, and Lalrinpuii will lead the attack for Team India. The midfield section includes Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Sunelita Toppo, Ishika, Rajni Kerketta, Sakshi Rana, and Khaidem Shileima Chanu. Binima Dhan and Himanshi Sharad Gawande are the team's reserve players.
Commenting on the upcoming tournament, Team India coach, Tushar Khandker said, “We are excited to embark on our title defense at the women’s Junior Asia Cup. This special group has a great balance of experience and young talent. Many of our players have already showcased their skills on the senior stage, and their presence will be crucial in guiding the team.
“Our focus is on playing an aggressive, disciplined game and taking it match by match. We are confident in our preparation and believe this squad has the potential to defend the title and make the country proud again."
