Top Indian players are set to take part in the Asian WTTC Continental StagE. SathiyanGnanasekaran in men’s and ManikaBatra in women’s will be the top seeds from India. ManikaBatra recently moved up to the 35th spot in the singles. This is her career-best ranking. Veteran AchantaSarath Kamal will be part of the event as well.
On Sunday Batra won the first round in just 19 minutes making the final score 4-0 against Uzbekistan’s Magdieva Markhabo. She will now go up against Singapore’s Zhu Chengzhu on Monday.
Asian WTTC Continental Stage isthe first competition of the 2023 season. It is also one of the most critical events and acts as a qualifying stage for the World Championships which is to be conducted in Durban, South Africa in May 2023. The competition is expected to be held at the Lusail Sports Complex in Doha, Qatar.
