  • Dr. Priti Adani addressed the ‘Sashakt Nari, Viksit Bharat’ conference
  • She said that the future of India will be determined by women living in villages and towns
  • Women living in rural areas are becoming the main force behind the development of the country

Dr. Priti Adani from the Adani Foundation spoke at the Sashakt Nari, Viksit Bharat conference about the need for improvement in support for rural women to achieve their potential. According to her, the future of India will be developed by millions of women from villages and towns throughout India.

Dr. Priti stated in her speech that women living in rural areas are critical to developing the nation and that although many women living in remote places lack formal education; they become self-assured because they have access to new opportunities.

She further stated, “Tomorrow's India is formed by millions of women in villages and towns,” mentioning the lack of education for many girls, noting that most rural women care for their families in an uneducated manner, and thus, the most encouraging development is women's self-esteem and trust in each other.

She added that other women like PV Sindhu, well-known athletes and historical figures have demonstrated the ability to make a difference in society and that they were not merely recipients of progress.

Dr. Priti spoke on the role of technology to support women with no formal education. For example, she spoke about one village woman who can now use a smartphone to assist with managing her farm by knowing when to plant seeds and when to apply fertilizers.

"There is a village woman who has an introduction to a smartphone, so now she will know when to plant and when to spray fertilizer on her crops... she may not have had a formal education, but she has data at her fingertips," said Dr.

Dr. Priti said in conclusion, that the only way for women to go from relying on small loans to owning businesses is to do so, which is essential to creating a developed India by 2047.

"We need to become the owners of our own enterprises instead of being the recipients of micro-credit; it is only through ownership, that we can create a developed India by 2047."
