By: WE Staff | Wednesday, 28 August 2024
The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, originally scheduled for Bangladesh, has been relocated to the UAE due to political unrest and safety concerns. The tournament will take place in Dubai and Sharjah stadiums from October 3 to 20, 2024, with teams divided into Group A and Group B.
The warm-up matches for the mega tournament will be played from September 28 to October 1 between India, West Indies, and South Africa, states ICC. All 10 Women's T20 World Cup 2024-qualified teams will participate in practice games, each team playing two warm-up games. The warm-up fixtures for the upcoming cricket tournament will be 20 overs per side, with no two teams from the same group playing each other.
In addition to this, Harmanpreet Kaur will lead India's star-studded team for the upcoming event, with Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Dayalan Hemalatha, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, and Richa Ghosh contributing to the formidable batting line-up. India also shares a strong bowling line-up with Renuka Singh, Pooja Vastrakar, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Asha Sobhana, and Sajana Sajeevan, along with a fair number of all-rounders.
Meanwhile, Richa, Yastika Bhatia, and Shreyanka Patil are the designated keepers in the squad, whose selection is subject to fitness due to recent injuries.
