HP Women's Commission Holds First District-Level Court in Una

- Cases involving women’s harassment and domestic violence were addressed
- The necessary directions were issued to the officers of the concerned department
The first district-level special court of the Himachal Pradesh State Women's Commission was held at the Mini Secretariat in Una on Monday, where various issues involving the harassment of women were addressed.
The Chairperson of the Commission, Vidya Negi, along with the other members of the Commission, Saroj Sharma, Reena Pundir, and Reena Daroch, attended the special court and instructed the officers of the concerned departments accordingly.
Vidya wrote that out of the 28 cases mentioned, 12 were decided, with the petitioners as well as the respondents present.
These cases involved domestic violence, workplace harassment, sexual harassment, as well as harassment by the family members. Plans are underway by the commission to set another court soon to hear the remaining cases.
However, the Chairperson emphasized that the delivery of justice to women was the top priority of the commission and that women should seek the commission's help. She further added that such trials would take place in all district headquarters as well.
Within the purview of this scheme, a special court has been slated to take place on February 11 and 12 at the Divisional Commissioner’s office in the town of Dharamsala.
Further, Vidya urged people to join the movement against cases of harassment and come to the support of the authorities to ensure the deliverance of justice to such victims.
Commission Member, Secretary Bushra Ansari, Una Additional Superintendent of Police Surinder Sharma, Law Officer Yashpal Sharma, and Sub-Inspector Jamaldeen of Women’s Police Station Una were also present in the meeting.
