Haryana to Register All Pregnant Women under SAMRIDDHI Portal

Chief Minister of Haryana Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday announced that the state has adopted a digital women’s healthcare monitoring program aimed at improving mother and infant’s health along with providing pregnant women with quality healthcare services.

As a part of the initiative, the government plans to register all pregnant women in the state using the 'SAMRIDDHI' portal, as stated by an official press release. The health of these women will be monitored during all stages of their pregnancy, till delivery, and after delivery.

Nayab Singh also stated that every pregnant woman in Haryana is compulsorily going to be registered through the SAMRIDDHI system and a ‘SAMRIDDHI ID’ will be issued to each individual. A unique identification number will make it possible to collect the data related at one place in a safe manner and the health records can be accessed by the concerned authorities.

Through the system the government aims to monitor women’s health on a regular basis and recognize those mothers who might need further assistance medically. Through this the government will be able to provide proper assistance in avoiding complications and reducing maternal and neonatal deaths in Haryana.

According to the CM, Haryana would be using the SAMRIDDHI website in integration with the command center in the state along with maternal and child health helpline. This will allow for coordination in various healthcare contact points while helping to monitor maternal and child health.

As stated by the CM, the initiative will assist the authorities in health management to monitor the state of pregnant women in an improved way and provide with appropriate medical assistance at the right time.

In addition, the project would ensure quick referral to other healthcare centers in case specialized care is required. Through integration of electronic surveillance, centralized coordination, and the helpline, the project seeks to ensure maternal health care services become responsive, coordinated, and accessible.

This will entail to women undergoing treatment within both public and private health facilities as well as the medical schools. Through connecting people from various healthcare platforms on one digital platform, this project is geared towards ensuring a better coordinated system for monitoring maternal healthcare.

Through the 'SAMRIDDHI' scheme, high-risk pregnancies will be detected in the early stages. The auxiliary nursing midwives (ANMs), doctors, and other health workers will get warnings about the need for any kind of examination, due date of delivery, follow-up consultations, and many other health services. Those expected to have normal pregnancy will be called at least once every three months.

As the expected date of delivery approaches, there will be an increase in the level of interaction between the health professionals and the patient. This way, health care professionals will be able to stay in touch with the woman through the critical time of giving birth.

The CM further shared the plan of setting up a state-level ‘Maternal and Child Health Call Centre’ to enhance the communication link where trained nurses would help women understand pregnancy-related health issues. In cases where specialized and urgent treatment is needed, the nurses would help women get in touch with suitable medical centers.
