Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Sini unveiled a series of transformative initiatives that are intended to promote women's empowerment and support the children's well-being during the State-Level Teej Festival celebrations in Ambala City. Central to these efforts is the launch of the Lado Sakhi Yojana, which encourages front line health professionals - including Anganwadi, Asha, and ANM workers, known as ' Lado Sakhis' - with ₹1,000 for every girl child birth they assist. These workers will also provide care for pregnant women, reinforcing the state's commitment to the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. Complementing this, the Badhte Kadam Digital Bal program was introduced to improve kindergarten through Digital Training for Anganwadi workers.
To further stimulate women's economic participation, the government will allocate one ration depot per block to women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs), creating local employment opportunities and expanding their role in governance. Notably, women will comprise 50% of Haryana startup policy beneficiaries. To encourage the entrepreneurial spirit among young girls, 10,000 DIY kits will be distributed to school students. A new scheme will provide financial assistance between ₹ 50,000 and ₹ 1 lakh and startups led by women, specializing in traditional textiles, ecological handicrafts, ayurvedic well-being and local food products.
In partnership with NITI Aayog, the Mahila Udyamita Manch will offer women entrepreneurs access to guidance from more than 700 consultants, training, financing, market ties and incubation support. Additionally, 131 women’s cultural centers that are being established towards arts and community ties.
These initiatives highlight that Haryana has taken a serious pledge towards building a sustainable and unified ecosystem that could socially, economically and culturally empower women, and would also have an element of environmental sustainability within the same, i.e., through sapling plantations, and through water conservation initiatives.
