Gujarat CM Launches HerSTART 5 to Empower Women Startups

Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat has inaugurated the 5th Edition of HerStart Program and a New Market Development Research Park at the Gujarat University Startup and Entrepreneurship Council's main campus in Ahmedabad. This project is aimed at enhancing women entrepreneurs' growth; creating World-Class businesses that are innovative; promoting the incubation of women's start-ups; providing mentoring; and providing access to markets for women entrepreneurs.
During his address, Chief Minister Bhupendra stated that “Gujarat is committed to achieving Women's Leadership in Development as fulfillled by Prime Minister Modi.” He also stated that in the past 10 years, the Start-Up India Movement has transformed the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Country, Increasing the number of Start-Ups from less than 500 Start-Ups to almost 2,00,000 currently; with a major contribution by Women Entrepreneurs to this great increase.
HerSTART 5 run by the Gujarat University Startup and Entrepreneurship Council that supports women founders through business incubation, mentorship guidance, networking, and access to markets. The fifth edition of this program was launched in conjunction with other development-focused initiatives at the university.
The Chief Minister also opened the university's research park and stated that the convention center would be named Vidyagauri Nilkanth Sabhapuram in honor of Vidyagauri Nilkanth, the first woman graduate from Gujarat.
The Chief Minister remarked that there are emerging opportunities in the semiconductor industry and that technology should not only be considered a career path; it can serve as a vehicle for nation-building. He stated that Sanand and Dholera will become semiconductor hubs due to the newly built semiconductor plant in Sanand, and therefore will create high-tech job opportunities for women in chip design, fabrication management, semiconductor packaging, and deep technology innovation.
During the event, the Chief Minister also released a coffee table book showcasing achievements from the fourth edition of herSTART and felicitated women-led startups associated with the programme.
