Godrej Properties recently hosted the second edition of the CREW Conclave 2025 marking the first anniversary of CREW (Collective of Real Estate Women), a national movement with an agenda of empowering, engaging, and enabling women professionals in real estate.
The event began with an inspiring keynote by Gaurav Pandey, MD & CEO, Godrej Properties, who stated that inclusion needed to be an experiential, everyday phenomenon and not something to be debated in the boardrooms. He re-emphasized the company's commitment to building empowering systems through actionable policies that involve the whole self.
The opening panel, 'Echoes of the Firsts', discussed pioneering women who shattered the paradigm and made change in their particular domains. Speakers were Captain Radhika Menon, India's first woman Merchant Navy Captain; Joyita Mondal, India's first trans judge; Kalki Subramaniam, trans rights activist and the first transwoman lead in an Indian film; and Bhavika Govil, debut writer and teacher of creative writing. Their testimonies highlighted presence and courage in terms of instilling change at society level.
In the second panel, 'Decoding Care the Godrej Story', Godrej Group leaders—Sumit Mitra (Head, Group HR & Corporate Services, Godrej Industries), Parmesh Shahani (Head, Godrej DEI Lab), and Megha Goel (CHRO, Godrej Properties)—described how the practices of compassion and inclusive leadership at the company are driving structural changes within the company.
The event was concluded with cross-functional roundtables, which produced actionable suggestions that will be utilized to develop a first-of-its-kind whitepaper on gender equity in real estate. With over 1,200 members and increasing rapidly, CREW continues to nurture an energetic national movement centered on community, education, and the belief that women aren't simply invited to play in the world of real estate they lead it.
Megha Goel also made two significant announcements at the conclave this year: launching a capability development program for women at Godrej Properties in partnership with their internal learning academy, Alchemy, and looking to roll this out across the real estate sector in the near future; and launching the CREW Community Website and Social Network—the first online India platform created with the vision of enabling networking and empowering women in the real estate and related industries from all over the country.
