Foxconn Hires 30,000 Female Workers at Bengaluru iPhone Plant

- Nearly 30,000 employees have already been hired for the Bengaluru factory within less than one year
The presence of Indian Manufacturing is increasing on a Global perspective. This is been aided by Foxconn (Taiwan based Manufacturers), who have set up an iPhone Manufacturing facility just outside of Bengaluru, creating an entire ecosystem for the production of these devices. The new factory is employing close to 30,000 people within 12 months of its launch.
As the Bengaluru-based iPhone manufacturing facility in Devanahalli has been expand greatly, Foxconn has reportedly been hiring upwards of 30,000 workers over the last 8-9 months demonstrating the rapid growth of the Industrial Sector in India.
It is also evident that Apple intends to grow the amount of iPhone Production in India as to reduce its reliance on China for Mass Production of these devices, by leveraging India's capability for large scale manufacturing.
An interesting trend emerging at the Bengaluru Plant is the high proportion of Female workers estimated at over 80 percent predominantly in the Age Category of 19-24 the majority being first time job holders. With continued growth, the plant is expected to become one of the largest employers of Women in India.
Foxconn has also started trial production at the facility this year and has begun assembling Apple's premium iPhone models.
It is noteworthy that a major chunk of the phones being produced in this facility will cater to the international market, thereby contributing to India being an international production and export hub.
The facility will provide employment to up to 50,000 people when working at its optimal capacity, along with several iPhone assembling lines.
Apart from manufacturing operations, Foxconn is trying to build up the area as an example of a township campus. This facility contains housing, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and recreational facilities.
The female workers are provided free lodging and meals and training programs before being employed in manufacturing.
