Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh stressed that the empowerment of women and healthy families go hand in hand, stating that empowered women create aware, educated and organised families, while healthy families offer women with greater opportunities to progress.

He was speaking at the Swasth Nari program - Sashakt Parivar (Healthy Woman – Empowered Family) organised by the Haryana State Council for Child Welfare at Indradhanush Auditorium, Panchkula. The Governor's wife, Mitra Ghosh, and the Council’s vice Chairperson, Suman Saini, were also present as guests of honor.

Governor Ghosh emphasized the importance of giving women rights and opportunities equal so that they can become autonomous, safe and active contributors to society. He expressed pride that, under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s leadership, Haryana has been making significant progress in women's development. He pointed to government schemes such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, women’s safety initiatives, and the Atmanirbhar Nari program as the main steps to strengthen women's empowerment.

He said, "Our society always respects the role of women in the family and nation-building, but today we should turn this respect into real opportunities".

Appreciating the Haryana State Council work for child welfare, the Governor noted that since its establishment in 1971, this organisation was committed to the holistic development of children. With its Bal Bhavans, Mini Bal Bhavans, children's homes, adoption programs, training classes, de-addiction centers and open shelter houses, the council reaches nearly 1.25 lakh children and youth every year.

Previously, the Governor visited stalls created by the Health Department and the Council, where he learned about different welfare schemes designed for children and women.

Addressing to the meeting, Suman Saini shared that the Council has always rendered quality services to children since 1971 and will continue to strengthen initiatives for their growth and well-being.

This program highlighted the message that strengthening women is key to ensuring strong and healthy families and finally a progressive society.
