The Women's Cell of Ewing Christian College (ECC), a constituent college of Allahabad University, coordinated a one-day seminar focused on “Empowering Women Through Health & Hygiene Awareness” on Friday in conjunction with the Institute of Applied Sciences, Prayagraj.

The seminar was directed toward encouraging women’s good health, hygiene and empowerment through knowledge-based self-care. In the morning, former senior consultant Syed Akhtar Mohammad Meesum outlined issues related to women’s empowerment and health and specified some central issues related to hygiene, reproductive health, nutritional balance, and wellness.

In the afternoon, Niraj Kumar, honorary secretary of the Institute of Applied Sciences, gave a talk centered on human evolution as a bio-cultural approach.

He emphasised rational thinking, education, proper nutrition, and self-discipline while drawing attention to India’s ranking of 117th place in the Global Hunger Index and the importance of a balanced diet to include critical food groups in India or any country.

Aswathy Prince summarised both of the sessions and the speakers of the two sessions were recognised for their contributions.
