DIU, UAE Embassy Host Women's Leadership Seminar

Daffodil International University (DIU) and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Bangladesh have jointly organized a seminar on women's leadership, innovation, and opportunities in a changing global landscape. The seminar, titled "Women Empowerment in a Changing World: Leadership, Innovation and Opportunities.”
The seminar was held on July 28th at the International Conference Hall of Knowledge Tower, Daffodil Smart City, the discussions were held on women's leadership, entrepreneurship development, innovation, and women's participation in a global context.
The UAE Ambassador Abdullah Ali Al Hamoudi, was the chief guest of the seminar and emphasized the importance of women's empowerment in the development of the UAE. He also discussed the role of women in the fields of education, business, international cooperation, and in producing skilled human resources in the country.

The UAE ambassador's attendance at the seminar also highlighted the strengthening of educational and institutional ties between the UAE and Daffodil International University.
Laura Acker, a multilingual entrepreneur, international business consultant, and strategic development expert, was a keynote speaker. She highlighted the need for women's leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, skills development, and lifelong learning as key components in empowering women to capitalize on opportunities in the fast-changing global economy.
The chairman of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University, Md Sabur Khan, chaired the event. The seminar was attended by Professor Mohammad Masum Iqbal, the acting vice chancellor of DIU, various officials of the university, faculty members from various departments, and the students.
The seminar had discussions on women's leadership development, innovation, entrepreneurship, skill enhancement, employment opportunities, and women's participation in the changing global landscape.
The issues related to women's activity in education, international cooperation, and training skilled human resources were also highlighted by the speakers. The seminar was also a part of DIU's international education efforts, pointing to the DIU RAK Campus located in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.
The opening of the branch campus in the UAE in 2024 is a significant milestone in the University of Dhaka's ongoing interaction with foreign countries and its international educational initiatives, as it is the first Bangladesh University to open a campus abroad.
The seminar was organized with an objective of giving opportunities to students, faculty members, young entrepreneurs and interested participants to be introduced to international experiences and practical views, the organizers said.
The initiative also helped foster Learning from and sharing of experience in Bangladesh and UAE on women's empowerment, women's leadership and inclusive growth. The organizers showed their interest in creating more academic collaboration between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates in such international cooperation.
The opening of DIU RAK Campus and their ongoing partnership with UAE institutions will provide more opportunities for students, faculty members, researchers, and industry partners, and foster leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, and global engagement.
