Department of Financial Services launches Nationwide Campaign promoting Flagship Schemes

- The Campaign focuses on expanding Banking, Low-cost Insurance & Pension, and Financial Security among the underserved
The Department of Financial Services (DFS) has launched a nationwide campaign from July 1 to September 30, 2025, aimed at expanding the reach of key financial inclusion initiatives. The campaign focuses on promoting flagship schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and Atal Pension Yojana. The campaign aims to achieve 100% coverage across 2.70 lakh Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies.
Since July 1st, 43,447 enrolment and awareness camps have been held across districts, with 31,305 camps achieving significant achievements in account activations, social security enrolments, and financial literacy outreach.
The targeted flagship schemes include:
- Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) - for universal banking access
- Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) - life insurance
- Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) - accident insurance
- Atal Pension Yojana (APY) - retirement savings for informal workers
The campaign focuses on expanding banking access under PMJDY, with 1,39,291 new Jan Dhan accounts opened and inactive accounts revitalized through KYC re-verification. The campaign also updated 96,383 PMJDY accounts and 1,01,778 other savings accounts. It also highlights large-scale enrolment in low-cost insurance and pension schemes, with 1,83,225 individuals enrolled in PMJJBY and 2,88,714 subscribers in PMSBY. The campaign has settled 1,665 claims, providing financial relief to beneficiaries.
The campaign further emphasizes educating citizens on financial security, digital fraud prevention, and grievance redressal mechanisms. The campaign, aimed at reaching remote and underserved regions, aims to cover 2.70 lakh Gram Panchayats and ULBs by September. The campaign aims to strengthen equitable access to formal financial services, particularly for marginalized communities.
