Working towards the objective of creating safer surroundings for women and children, the Self Defence Wing of the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC) managed to successfully conduct its 22nd Self-Defence Summer Camp in New Delhi on Thursday.
Scheduled from 29 May 2026 to 11 June 2026, the initiative was conducted across four different venues in Delhi. The event saw a participation of over 2,100 girls and women who gained practical knowledge on safety and defence through skill development, raising awareness, and confidence building.
Focusing on instilling resilience and self-confidence, SPUWAC’s campaign was geared towards empowering girls and women through building mental well being, personality development, and essential life skills to confront any danger that may arise. It is expected that through training and mentoring, individuals will acquire the necessary tools for safe-guarding themselves against any unsafe situation.
Taking into account the importance of personal strength as a major aim, Deputy Commissioner of Police, SPUWAC, Neha Yadav observed that developing self-confidence in girls is extremely important for the purpose of empowerment of the same.

As they officials engaged with the participants, they highlighted the self-defence as an essential skill that not only ensures personal safety but also boosts their confidence and sense of empowerment.
