The Union Ministry of Rural Development will organize SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2025 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium under India Gate in Delhi from September 5 to 22.

For the first time in the capital city, the festival will feature all its constituents like food stalls, traditional crafts, and rural products produced by women entrepreneurs. Over 400 members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from all over the country will participate, and about 200 stalls will be installed at the ground.

In a press conference, Swati Sharma, Joint Secretary (Rural Livelihood), explained that the Mela is not only a market but also a chance for city visitors to experience village life while discovering products from all over India.

She further explained that cultural events will be conducted on every evening, and entertainment areas for kids will make it a family-friendly atmosphere.

The Ministry is targeting the development of skills and marketing assistance for women entrepreneurs. Large firms like Amazon and Flipkart are backing the initiative, with some goods already shipped to the Maldives. India Post is also endeavoring to bring these goods to more areas throughout the country.

As per Dr. Molishree, Director (Rural Livelihood), the Mela is an interface to bring people back to their roots and support rural entrepreneurship.

Through the Deendayal Antyodaya YojanaNational Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM), 10 crore women in 34 states and Union Territories have been connected, and more than 2 crore have gained the status of "Lakhpati Didis" by earning over one lakh rupees a year.
