On Tuesday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off a cyclothon for girls called Tiranga Cyclothon, which began at the Delhi Legislative Assembly in Civil Lines and culminated at Raj Ghat. In her remarks to participants, she said the true respect for our national flag will only come about when girls are fully liberated, and that her government is dedicated to building a better future for girls.
The cyclothon aimed at enabling women, was flagged off together by CM Gupta and Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood. On the same day, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Bike Rally’, organized by the Union Culture Ministry, was flagged off by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, alongside Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, CM Gupta, and a few MPs.
While addressing attendees at the rally, CM Rekha noted, "Before 2014, has anyone seen a Prime Minister, leading people holding the Tiranga? The leaders of that time abandoned the Tiranga, before independence. Today, those who hardly bring out their copies of the Constitution will never bring the Tiranga”.
Those who claim to have brought independence are asking questions about the integrity of the country." She highlighted that the Tiranga stands for the country's good fortune, and every person who is Indian wants to see it go high, and be immortal.
"The motifs of Bharat Mata ki Jai ring in the sky as this Tiranga Yatra wheels onwards," she said. She added, patriotism is seen by everyone, from MPs to soldiers, and there is love for the country still after 78 years of independence. She thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for distracting her with religious festivities in every home.
Minister of Education Ashish urged people not to think about Independence Day just as a long weekend and to actually help in preserving a clean house and locality. On August 15, India will celebrate its 79th Independence Day.
