BharatPe Group collaborates with the Women Entrepreneurship Platform to Support Female Entrepreneurs
By: WE Staff | Friday, 31 March 2023
The Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) and BharatPe Group which is India's number one Fintech Giant have collaborated to support female entrepreneurs all over India to make them independent and confident towards their business expansion. The main agenda of this partnership is to create an ecosystem that provides an ample amount of knowledge and training about industry expertise, and financial and technical knowledge to women entrepreneurs across the nation.
Facilitating the advancement of an aggregator platform that provides access to peer support, mentoring, networking channels, and providing knowledge through many resources are the main focus area of this partnership.
This collaboration is an initiative of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program of the group of BharatPe launched under 'BharatPe Cares'. This particular initiative is a part of PAYBACK's CSR effort, a BharatPe company.
Females can contribute only 13.76% of the total entrepreneurs in India, which is only 8.05 million out of the total 58.5 million overall entrepreneurs, according to a report by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
This partnership aims to know about the actual reason behind this lesser percentage and remove the barriers which hinder the growth of women entrepreneurs.
Nalin Negi, CFO and interim CEO of BharatPe have announced that as a homegrown Fintech company, the unicorn's involvement with the female solopreneurs and small business holders has experienced challenges. The most important factor is a lack of financial knowledge, networking channels, fundraising opportunities, and mentoring.
According to the mission director of WEP, Anna Roy, it is evident that India's entrepreneurial ecosystem is flourishing, women-led businesses still require strong support to grow their business. The majorly faced issue by women entrepreneurs is networking channels and mentorship opportunities.
To offer continuum support the women entrepreneurs by providing a network of various stakeholders who are a part of the ecosystem is the main initiative of WEP.
