BCCI Likely to Schedule Inaugural Season of Women's IPLin March 2023 - Reports

According to reports the BCCI is on the lookout for two windows to host the inaugural season of the Women’s Indian Premier League. Post Women’s T20 Challenge’s success, there has been an increase in opularity of women’s cricket. Players and fans alike are looking forward to begin the Women’s Indian Premier League.
A daily recently reported that the BCCI has conducted discussions about the WIPL with the stakeholders, during the IPL 2022 playoffs. It is expected that the BCCI intends to host the tournament in March 2023. September is being considered as the other option.
BCCI PresidentSouravGanguly and secretary Jay Shah had shown interest in starting the Women’s Indian Premier League recently. Since then discussion for likely windows have been set in motion. The BCCI held discussions with Cricket Australia and England and Wales Cricket Board over last week. The board is expected to ask the ICC to create a separate window for its new league in the month of March.
The BCCI conducted the Women’s T20 Challenge in Pune this year which drew a sizable crowd of 8,621 people at the finals.
Cricketer SmritiMandhana recently commented, “The T20 Challenge was always going to be a stepping stone for the women’s IPL. And so, we’ve always tried to put up a good show so we can move towards the women’s IPL as soon as we can.This tournament has given us some good talent too – like ShafaliVerma.”
