BAT Bangladesh appoints Monisha Abraham as 1st female Managing Director

Monisha Abraham joins British American Tobacco (BAT) Bangladesh as the first female managing director. Her tenure will start from July 1, 2024.
Monisha is currently serving as the Managing Director & Chief Executive officer at Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC from over 2 years and prior to that, she served as the Managing Director of Ibecor, Heineken Hanoi and Brasserie Almaza. She has nearly 3 decades of extensive experience in general management and marketing capacities in the FMCG, liquor, and tobacco industries.
Running from past 112 years, the firm has appointed a female employee in the position of managing director for the very first time which exemplifies its forwarding step towards a gender inclusive workplace.
Monisha expressed her excitement while saying, “I feel honoured to be entrusted with the responsibility of leading BAT Bangladesh, which has been operating in this region for over 114 years having a rich legacy of success and impact. I am committed to driving BAT Bangladesh's growth journey, while upholding the values of the company with the highest integrity.”
She continued, “Being one of the highest taxpayers in the country, the company also holds a strong reputation as a growth partner to the nation in its journey towards achieving the SDGs. I hope to use my experience and expertise in leading the company towards achieving a better tomorrow for all.”
