Australia Women defeated India Women in the final T20I of the Australia Women in India Series, 2024, with Australia Women winning the toss and fielding first. India Women scored 147 runs in the Inning-1 and 149 in the Inning-2. The third Twenty20 International match took place at Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium on Tuesday.
In women's T20 cricket, Australian captain Alyssa Healy played her 150th international match. Shafali Verma's scoring rate after a careful start hit Kim Garth for three boundaries in the fourth over. In the third ball of the fifth over, she also hit Megan Schutt cleanly down the field, but in the very next ball, she played a straight to Healy.
India reached 60 quickly due to Smriti Mandhana. But with Smriti, Jemimah Rodrigues, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur all coming out after one another, India was struggling at 66/4 at the halfway point. After Harmanpreet was bowled out by Ashleigh Gardner in the eleventh over, the Indian women's cricket team dropped to 54/3.
Next, Richa scorched to 34 off 28 balls, and Amanjot Kaur's brilliant 20 off 17 late attack lifted India to a very worthy total of 147/6 in 20 overs.
Opening batter Beth Monney made a solid 52 off 45 balls, and captain Alyssa Healy hit 55 as Australia reached 149 for 3 in 18.4 overs, chasing the target of 148 with eight balls remaining. Pooja Vastrakar claimed two wickets for India, while Deepti Sharma claimed one.
India's Richa Ghosh scored a 28-ball 34, while Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana contributed 26 and 29 runs respectively. Australia's Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham took two wickets.
