Assam CM Launches MMUA Fund to Support Womenpreneurs

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday launched the distribution of funds for Mukhiya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) in the Chabua-Lahowal Assembly constituency and Makum Assembly constituency in Upper Assam. This event will help women gain financial autonomy.

As part of this campaign, the first installment of ₹10,000 was given to 21,198 women in Chabua-Lahowal and 22,069 women in Makum, to help start small business ventures.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Chief Minister stated, "The first installment handout marks the initiation of this massive movement, through MMUA, to empower women entrepreneurs in the state."

He also added that over 15 lakh women, in 55 Assembly constituencies, have been given the first installment, and the rest would also be given in due course.

In Chabua-Lahowal, the beneficiaries were 20,575 rural women and 623 urban women. In Makum, 20,900 rural women and 1,169 urban women were given financial aid. The Chief Minister counseled the beneficiaries to make good use of the money and expand their business.

The event in Chabua-Lahowal was held in the presence of Jogend Mohan, the Minister for Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture, Prashanta Phukan, the Minister for Power, Member of Parliament Rameswar Teli, Members of Legislative Assemblies Binod Hazarika and Ponakan Barua, and Director of the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission Kuntal Moni Sarma Bordoloi.

At Makum, participants included Minister for Labour Welfare Rupesh Gowala, Member of Parliament Rameswar Teli, MLAs Sanjay Kishan, Bolin Chetia, Suren Phukan, and Bhaskar Sharma, as well as Kuntal Moni Sarma Bordoloi, the Director of Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission.
