  • TeamLease Digital reports a significant Gender Pay gap at different levels.
  • Life Sciences and Healthcare sector shows the highest pay gap at 29.5%

A study by TeamLease Digital reveals a 16.4% gender pay gap at senior levels in India's Global Capability Centres (GCCs). Despite advancements in gender diversity at entry- and mid-level roles, the disparity becomes more pronounced at higher echelons, raising questions about inclusivity and equal opportunity.

The findings say:

  • The Life Sciences and Healthcare sector shows the highest pay gap at 29.5 per cent, with a 23.4 per cent at the senior level, followed by Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) at 26.3 per cent.
  • Tech GCCs have a relatively lower overall gap of 19 per cent, but the disparity still escalates to 16.3 per cent at senior levels, whereas the energy sector has a 15 per cent overall pay gap.
  • Tier 1 cities show better female participation in GCCs compared to Tier 2 cities, but challenges like limited career growth opportunities persist.

TeamLease Digital reveals a 4.4 per cent pay gap at entry-level in the contractual workforce in tech GCCs, whereas 6 per cent gap at the mid-level. It also notes a significant gender pay gap in the BFSI sector particularly for senior and technical roles, with women at an average earning 26.3 per cent less than men, whereas at the senior level, 23.8 per cent less than men.

Tech roles in GCCs also show significant pay disparities, with automotive GCCs reporting an average 26.3 per cent pay gap. This trend persists across industries, with Life Sciences and Healthcare GCCs showing a 22.6 per cent difference, Tech GCCs at 28.5 per cent, and BFSI GCCs at 30 per cent pay gap.

GCCs are promoting gender diversity in contractual hiring, driven by DEI policies, global workforce standards, and growth in traditionally women-dominated fields like finance, human resources, and digital operations.
