- Andhra Pradesh government inks MoU with FICCI-FLO to set up a dedicated industrial park for women entrepreneurs
- MoU inked by TG Bharath, Minister for Industries, representing Andhra Pradesh government
- FICCI-FLO national president Poonam Sharma signed on behalf of FICCI-FLO
The Andhra Pradesh government announced an important agreement with FICCI-FLO to support women entrepreneurs through an industrial park development project as part of a new initiative to promote long-term growth of women's entrepreneurship in India.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh government by TG Bharath, Minister for Industries Commerce and Food Processing, and Poonam Sharma, the National President of FICCI-FLO.
The signing ceremony was attended by various industry executives, including Ujjwala Singhania and Mourya Boda, respectively, former National President and National Governing Body Member of FICCI-FLO.
The agreement, which was signed in Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), outlines the development of a 30-acre industrial park designed specifically to meet the needs of women entrepreneurs who are members of FICCI-FLO.
Government of Andhra Pradesh initiated the creation of this park with the intent of providing women with access to affordable land through the development of these parks, as specified in the Andhra Pradesh Private Industrial Parks Policy, and is intended to implement the Infrastructure (4.0) technical requirements for plug-and-play in the timeframe of 2024 - 2029.
The intended purpose of the industrial park is to promote women-owned and operated businesses; to provide women with greater opportunities for economic independence; and to generate jobs for the women who are involved in operating these businesses.
The project is in line with the vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s “one family, one entrepreneur” initiative to encourage entrepreneurship in the state. It also supports the government’s initiative to establish 175 MSME parks, one in each assembly constituency, to provide equal access to industrial infrastructure and overcome regional imbalances.
As per the MoU, FICCI-FLO will help in mobilizing and mentoring eligible women entrepreneurs. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), headed by Vice Chairman and Managing Director M Abhishikth Kishore, IAS, will handle land allocation, government approvals, development of infrastructure, and support in terms of policies as per government rules.
