  • At Dome SVP Stadium in Worli, Amruta Devendra Fadnavis presided over a stirring celebration of International Yoga Day
  • BMC sweepers, hospital employees, transgender people, and vocational trainees were among the more than 1,000 marginalized women who took part

As Amruta Devendra Fadnavis led a vibrant celebration organized by her non-profit organization, Divyaj Foundation, the Dome SVP Stadium in Worli transformed into a haven of solidarity and resiliency on International Yoga Day. Over 1,000 disadvantaged women, including BMC sweepers, hospital attendants, transgender individuals, and vocational trainees, gathered for a heart-stirring and empowering yoga session as part of the event, which focused on collective healing and empowerment.

"When we hold hands in prayer, in yoga, in solidarity—we rise not as individuals but as one resilient India," said Amruta, encapsulating the spirit of the gathering. Children from Mitti Ke Sitare, a Divyaj Foundation project, sang an emotional rendition of Ganesh Vandana to start the day. A thorough yoga session led by wellness expert Dr. Mickey Mehta followed, saying, "Yoga isn't just a workout—it's a work-in." And it turns into magic once seva is finished.

Bollywood stars Arjun Kapoor and Nushrratt Bharuccha signed up for the cause. Arjun underlined the universal appeal of yoga, stating, "Yoga unites us not only with our breath, but also with one another." Bharuccha added, "Empowerment starts with empathy; it was beautiful to see so many women come together in grace and strength."

In addition to the practice of yoga, the event included lectures on patriotism, meditation, emotional well-being, hygiene, and financial stability, providing learners with essential life skills. Fadnavis also remembered the martyrs of Pahalgam, saying, "In the shadow of sorrow, we met not in despair but in determination—our mats prayer grounds, our hands bridges of strength."

Municipal Commissioner Shri Bhushan Gagrani, IAS, observed that the event was "a beautiful reminder that wellness is a right, not a luxury." Dome Entertainment Managing Director Mazhar Nadiadwala said Amruta was "a woman of substance who empowers the world with her power of goodness".

With wellness kits handed out and a sense of togetherness in the air, this International Yoga Day celebration was not just an event—it became an active message of hope, resilience, and community.
