Amazon India Hires 1k+ Women to Meet 2024 Festive Season Demand

Amazon India is creating 1.1 lakh new jobs for the 2024 festive season, focusing on inclusivity, catering to increased consumer demand in major cities, and hiring thousands of women and nearly 1,900 persons with disabilities (PWDs). The new positions will cover various functions, ensuring smooth operations and contributing to the local economy. Amazon India will also offer training and development programs for new employees, promoting economic empowerment and social inclusion.

Amazon is hiring a diverse workforce to meet growing consumer demand in major, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, focusing on long-term job creation and community impact. Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya praised the efforts by Amazon to create over one lakh seasonal jobs, including hiring women and disabled individuals. He lauded the initiatives driven to protect the well-being of the associates through health, safety, and educational programmes. Amazon India's VP of Operations, Abhinav Singh, emphasized the company's aim to offer fast, reliable deliveries during the season while ensuring the well-being of its workforce. He highlights initiatives like Ashray, a resting point for delivery associates across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Another initiative, Sushruta Health offers comprehensive healthcare to truck drivers, while the Pratidhi scholarship supports associates' children in obtaining quality education.

Amazon India is enhancing its infrastructure to provide a safe work environment for its associates specifically women, offering facilities like drinking water, cafeterias, and medical facilities, and promoting financial literacy through initiatives like Samriddhi camps.
