  • Aditya Birla Capital launches ‘LeadHerShip’ for Indian women founders
  • It’s a 3-month mentorship program with women leaders
  • Focus on scaling women-led FinTech startups

Indian financial service provider Aditya Birla Capital has developed a new women-to-women mentoring and incubation initiative called LeadHerShip under its main FinTech engagement platform InFIniTe.

LeadHerShip is created to support female entrepreneurs, primarily in early stages, through access, capability building and the creation of sustainable scale opportunities within the financial services and FinTech ecosystems.

While the past ten years have seen a steady growth in women's leadership pipeline entry, along with an increase in start-ups led by females, the number of women represented in senior levels of leadership within the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance industry, however, continues to be limited.

LeadHerShip is intended to close the gap between the number of female MS and number of women founders. The program will build a "structured ecosystem" that connects female founders with female executive leaders at all Aditya Birla Capital business units for a comprehensive and mentoring journey of three months.

This structured program is designed to enable female-led start-ups to develop correctly focused strategic goals, address real business issues and establish scalable financial products that will be ready for sale in the market, as described in the company release.

Also, the Aditya Birla Capital organization will be able to see early signals of trends and innovations relative to the business models in the financial industry that will help shape future Aditya Birla Capital developments.

ALBCA’s ‘InFiniTe’ initiative uses a ‘problem to partner’ model to create connections between internal business challenges and external businesses who are working to solve those challenges.

The InFiniTe function has engaged over 200 FinTech companies and has implemented approximately 60 PoCs in digital lending, customer experience, data analytics and risk management. The ‘LeadHerShip’ initiative builds upon the Incubate pillar of InFiniTe with an additional emphasis on inclusive innovation and women entrepreneurship.

Vishakha Mulye, Managing Director & CEO, Aditya Birla Capital Limited, said, “LeadHerShip reflects our commitment to building a more inclusive, future-ready and innovation-led ecosystem at Aditya Birla Capital. As we evolve our InFiniTe platform from innovating with start-ups to actively incubating them, this initiative creates a unique opportunity for our women leaders to mentor and partner with women entrepreneurs at an early stage of their journey.”

B-Fair Labs is providing assistance in the design, progress tracking and measurement of success for the LeadHerShip programme; this will provide a structured and impact-based incubation experience.
