- Kriti Sanon became the first Indian actress to address the World Health Summit 2025 held in Berlin.
- She focused her speech on the need for courageous and sustained investments in the health of girls and women
Kriti Sanon had the honour of being the first Indian actress to speak at an international platform—the World Health Summit 2025 in Berlin.
Along with being an actress and producer, she was also UNFPA India’s Honorary Ambassador for Gender Equality who used the international public platform to address the important and long-term investments in women's health and well-being as part of its significant economic and social value.
At the session "Women's Health - Global Wealth: Catalysing Returns on Bold Investments," Kriti noted that although women form half of the world's population, women's health is underfunded in many facets. She said, "Women's health is not a peripheral issue. It is the foundation for human progress, prosperity, and future."
She underscored the economic value of prioritizing women's health, pointing out that an example of a $300 million investment could produce revenues in the USD 12-13 billion range a nine-fold return.
She added, "Funding women's health is morally mandated, but also a good investment for our collective future. Investing in women brings families, communities, and economies into greater prosperity--it is now time to act systemically and proactively."
She also reiterated the principle of "Nothing about her, without her," noting the importance of including women in decision-making on their health and well-being.
While in the field, Kriti made not only observations of challenges, such as child marriage and inadequate access to maternal care, and adolescents leaving the health system, but also heard stories of resilience which illustrate that life-saving care can be life-changing if received on time.
Her participation in the Summit is a significant moment for India to engage with global decision-making on gender and health.
In her role as UNFPA India Ambassador, Kriti advocates for equitable sexual and reproductive health services, improved maternal health services, and creating pathways for adolescent girls to participate in health policy advocacy.
On the professional front, Kriti is preparing for the release of Aanand L. Rai’s romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, co-starring Dhanush, which is scheduled for release on November 28. She is also currently filming Cocktail 2, alongside Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
