  • Acer India Implements Menstrual Leave Policy
  • Women employees will get an extra day of paid holiday each month
  • The policy seeks to develop a more supportive and gender-inclusive work environment

Acer India has introduced a menstrual leave policy, which provides female employees with an additional day of paid leave every month. The action brings the tech firm in line with more and more organizations working to build a more caring and gender-sensitive work culture.

Acer India has launched "Matrika," a leave policy for menstruation to create a more inclusive and supportive workplace. According to this policy, women employees will be provided with one extra day of paid leave a month so that they can attend to their menstrual well-being without affecting their usual leave quota.

The company said the step is in alignment with its larger vision of fostering a workplace that values gender inclusivity, the health of employees, and well-being as a whole. President and Managing Director of Acer India Harish Kohli added, "A deeply caring workplace transcends policy—it fosters empathy, respect, and actual change. With the 'Matrika' menstrual leave policy; we are making a move toward bringing women's well-being and health into open conversations."

Acer India emphasized that, with more companies implementing menstrual leave policies, "Matrika" places the company in the forefront as a progressive employer that respects gender equality and employee-centric programs.

Last week, Larsen & Toubro, a large corporate body, also rolled out one-day paid menstrual leave for female workers, with the benefit covering approximately 5,000 women. Some firms like Swiggy and Zomato had introduced similar benefits in the past, but the L&T move was a huge leap towards endorsing greater work-life balance for female workers. Earlier, Bihar, Odisha, Sikkim, and Kerala had already incorporated provisions for menstrual leave for employees
