India's first state-led incubator for women entrepreneurs, WE Hub located in Hyderabad has crossed an important milestone by graduating its first cohort of 600 participants from We Enable, a student programme designed to cultivate the entrepreneurial and leadership skills of female students from both government and private institutions throughout the state.
The Minister for Information Technology, Industries & Commerce of the State of Telangana, D. Sridhar Babu, congratulated the new graduates and pointed out the vital part women have always played in bringing forth innovation and economic prosperity to Telangana.
He stated that through WE Hub version 2.0, the Government of Telangana would continue supporting women entrepreneurs and described the goals of "Telangana Rising 2027" to ensure women's empowerment as Telangana reaches a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
It has also decided to establish exclusive MSME parks for women in each Assembly constituency as part of the long-term strategy. The minister mentioned the change in society's attitude toward women in Telangana and said the need of the hour was to empower women at home and in society.
Quoting official statistics, he said the FLFPR in the state has increased to 52.7 percent, surpassing the national average, while it has increased from 22 percent to 40.3 percent between 2017–18 and 2023–24.
He also recognised the role of WE Hub, in promoting women entrepreneurs and added that WE Hub 2.0 would contribute to develop globally competitive women-led enterprises by providing integrated access to skills, technology, finance, markets and mentorship.
The guest speakers, film producer and entrepreneur Priyanka Dutt and Olympian and founder of the Global Academy for Badminton Jwala Gutta, shared their personal experiences that encouraged students to pursue ambitious goals.
Through the programme, the students engaged in industry exposure visits, mentorship sessions, and skill-building workshops so as to appreciate the real challenges. WE Enable provides opportunities for young women to take ideas and transform them into actionable solutions and prepare for leadership positions.
The program was further strengthened with partnerships from organizations such as Micron, Microsoft, LinkedIn Learning, Novartis, Vivifi, Forge Alumnus, Nations Benefits, Wadhwani Foundation, and Pifinity Foundation, to name a few, offering access to technology, mentorship, and experiential learning.
