Renowned Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat has secured her third consecutive Olympic quota. Vinesh Phogat has confirmed her place in the women's 50kg spot for the upcoming Paris Olympics after competing in the Rio Games (2016) and the Tokyo Olympics (2020). She reached the final at the Asian Olympic Qualifier without losing a single point, demonstrating great dominant performance. Along with Vinesh, two other Indian women wrestlers qualified in the Asian Olympic Games qualifier in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan including Anshu Malik (57kg) and Reetika (76kg).
Anshu beat Kyrgyzstan's Kalmira Bilimbek Kyzy and Asian Games bronze medallist Laylokhon Sobirova to secure her place, while Reetika, a World under-23 champion, beat South Korea's Eunju Hwang, Mongolia's Enkh Amar, and China's Juan Wang. So far, India secured four quota spots at the Paris Games as Antim Phanghal clinched a bronze medal in the World Championships last year grabbing a seat in the 53kg category.
The Paris 2024 Olympics, also known as the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, the international multi-sport event is all set to kickstart from 26 July 2024 to 11 August 2024 in France. Paris will be the main city that will host the series of events with 16 other cities and a subsite in Tahiti.
