10 Lakh+ Women Become Literate Under Bihar Government's Scheme

- In the year 2023-24, first 9,69,861 women became literate under the same scheme
Over 10, 35,984 women have been provided with literacy under the Mahadalit, Dalit, and Minority Extremely Backward Class Akshar Aanchal Yojana in the current financial year 2024-25 and the current year. 9, 69,861 women were made literate through the same scheme in the last year.
On the occasion of International Literacy Day, Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar highlighted Bihar's significant increase in the literacy rate of women.
He invited writers, intellectuals, social workers, and educated individuals to take an active role in the work of transforming Bihar into a literate state.
Functions were organized at a few literacy centers of the state. At the central literacy center in Kanya Middle School at Bankipur's Bada Hospital locality, booklets, pencils, and books were handed over to the newly literate women.
These items were handed over by Shiksha Sevak Sunita Kumari and local social worker Mahadev Prasad Yadav.
Speaking to the gathering, Mahadev appreciated the efforts by the government to enlighten women between the ages of 15 and 45.
He further added that the centres carry out tests to give authenticated evidence of literacy, which can assist women in acquiring loans from banks and the government, allowing them to initiate businesses and enhance livelihoods.
An event was also conducted at Urdu Primary School in Lodipur, where approximately 40 women took part.
Most of the participants showed that they are resolved to make their children avoid facing the same educational issue, assuring to enroll them in school on a regular basis. The event also involved distributing notebooks and pencils among the women.
