Riya Roger: Maximizing Organizations' Potential & Productivity By Recruiting The Best Talent
Riya Roger
Founder, Recruit Right Hr Solutions
Running a small or midsize business is challenging because of the sheer number of tasks it takes to succeed. From accounting to human resources to technical support, it’s almost impossible for business owners to do it all by themselves. Thanks to the ease of HR consultants, they don’t have to figure out everything on their own. A competent HR consultant can help the business develop a suitable employee benefits package, handle the recruitment process and hire a new workforce, make reorganization recommendations, and act as a liaison between management and employees to help resolve disputes. Realizing the challenges the firms face, Riya Roger established Recruit Right HR Solutions which is an HR Consultancy based out of Navi Mumbai. Riya has been an HR professional for several years and has worked across various sectors such as IT, Edtech, Banking, FMCG, Real Estate, and Healthcare before venturing into entrepreneurship. Riya considers mentoring and supporting budding talented HR professionals as the most rewarding aspect of her career as an HR leader. In an in-depth conversation with Women Entrepreneur magazine, Riya shares with us her professional journey and the various lessons she has gathered on the way. Here is an excerpt from the interview.
What inspired you to establish Recruit Right HR Solutions and what are the key services that the organization offers?
I have worked with various consultancies across various industry verticals as an HR recruiter and have freelanced as a recruiter for start-up HR Consultants. Recruitment has always intrigued me because I enjoy helping people realize their potential through the right jobs and working with HR start-ups kindled the idea of establishing my own firm. It was during the pandemic that I noticed people looking for jobs and companies searching for the right candidates and started my own consultancy firm. We specialize in recruiting for IT and non-IT positions from mid-level to leadership levels and even help startups, MSMEs, and SME companies hire employees. Initially, we started with job offers for women who were on a sabbatical due to the various roles they play in their personal lives and later reached out to men who were looking to work from home for extra income and attend to their family responsibilities as well.
What are some of the responsibilities you shoulder as the founder of the firm? What is your primary focus area to drive organizational growth?
My responsibilities entail overseeing the entire operations of the firm, tracking the performance, progress and developing a business plan, and helping teams execute it by boosting their morale. I am also the Public Spokesperson of the company. The key focus area to facilitate firms’ growth are exploring the market trends and finding clients, managing finances, and arranging funding. Apart from this, I also focus on recruiting the right employee team and increasing the efficient candidate pool.
What are the challenges that you have to face as an HR leader, especially in the postpandemic world? How do you overcome these challenges?
Many people lost jobs during the pandemic due to which the recruitment and hiring became even more challenging than it already was since the new job openings post-pandemic were bombarded with multiple job applications. This also made the screening process time-consuming. However, the post-pandemic world is no longer limited to a hefty paycheck but also includes better work-life balance, a supportive work culture, increased technology adaptation, growth opportunities, and skill development. Another challenge we faced was the increase in candidate withdrawal rates which we overcame by widening our candidate pool by sourcing talent from a variety of professional backgrounds.
"At recruit right hr Solutions, we are Committed to offering Expertise in manpower Outsourcing & recruitment Services, through vast Experience in the hr domain"
What are some of the key milestones that you have achieved throughout your professional journey? What is your success mantra?
The biggest milestone was starting my own venture and hiring an efficient and robust team for my company. Other milestones were successfully negotiating and closing a deal with my first client, and getting my first repeat client. My success mantra is to be transparent in my work because the trust that the clients have in us brings them back to us. I also try to look for solutions in every challenge instead of excuses because that determines growth and I believe in seizing the opportunity and making the most of it.
In the future, how do you see the Indian HR landscape evolving and how would you align Recruit Right HR Solutions with these trends?
There is a changing demand in the workforce due to constantly evolving employee and company expectations and the process of hiring. Technology has transformed recruitment by facilitating candidates with online job applications. Companies use Applicant tracking Systems (ATS) to manage applications. Recruit Right HR Solutions believes in keeping up with the trends by adopting digitalization. We employ video calls for all the processes from client meetings to candidate interviews. Employers hiring remotely and availing employees all over the world have given birth to the remote work model. Another trend we have to keep up with is social media recruitment through platforms such as LinkedIn.
