Rajitha Rupani
Founder, KidzPitch

KidzPitch, founded in 2019 by Rajitha Rupani and her kids is an interactive platform for Kids, to bring forth their ideas, work on their creativity, and collaborate at an international level. “We don't want kids to be glued to electronics all the time; we want them to be innovative, bring their ideas to life, and collaborate with other kids to produce something that will address a problem in the world or develop a solution that can be beneficial to others,” signifies Rajitha Rupani. In an exclusive interview with Women Entrepreneur Magazine Rajitha Rupani talks more about her professional traits as well as the unique offering of KidzPitch.

Take Us Through Your Professional Journey. What Motivated You To Venture Into Creating A Learning Platform For Children?

I'm a CEO, entrepreneur, and corporate executive with two decades of experience working with Startups to Fortune 100 companies to improve customer experience, allow business development and drive agile and digital transformation. I've had the privilege to work in a variety of industries and held key leadership positions.

With a Master’s in IT, I worked my way up the corporate ladder and it was not an easy task doing it as a mom, woman, immigrant, and in the tech industry. My career took most of my time and energy and I struggled to find quality and creative childcare. All along, I always felt a gap in today’s parenting due to their busy lives and wanted to give kids a unique platform to unleash their creativity, and put their talent to good use. This was the primary motivation for launching KidzPitch. And another reason is that it is a common issue for any working parent who is also juggling several jobs while their children languish in front of electronics.

Shed Some Light On The Various Programs That Kidzpitch Has Created For Young Children? What Are Some Key Areas That You Intend To Help Children And Parents Through Your Platform?

We have four main areas under KidzPitch. To begin, we firmly believe that we must educate all children with life lessons, such as savings, money, innovation, entrepreneurship as early as possible, we offer this via Kids camps. Second, we want to provide them with resources to help them develop and implement their ideas. Third, in the long run, we want KidzPitch to become the largest international platform where any child regardless of their ethnicity can come and develop their ideas and share them with anyone in the world. Fourth, we'd like to fund some of the ideas that come through the platform. So, an incubation lab and a business model for them through KidzPitch.

“We want kidzpitch to become the largest international platform where any child can come and develop their ideas, learn new cultures, solve a problem, get scholarships, and get recognized globally.”

How Has Your Entrepreneurial Journey Been So Far? What Are Some Of The Significant Milestones That You Have Earned Over The Years?

I am a multi-passionate entrepreneur and this journey has been very eventful, there have been many ups and downs. It all boils down to your inner purpose, why you want to accomplish it, and if you are making progress? At the end of the day, that is what keeps you going. In fact, with KidzPitch we wanted to start with 25 kids in the first year, but we quickly ramped up to 100 as well as 500+ email subscribers globally, even before we planned to reach that big. This is one of our biggest achievements with reaching that much of an audience. From my overall business standpoint, I have received many accolades and achievements, but this entire journey has been very rewarding in and of itself.

How Do You Keep Yourself Well Aligned With The Periodic Evolutions Occurring In The Industry And The Tech World In General?

I continue to work in the Tech Industry in leadership roles keeping up with Technological changes, business trends, and being on the cutting edge as well as bringing that expertise into my personal business. We initially intended to establish an in-person program with KidzPitch, but when COVID struck, we moved everything online, created virtual camps, virtual sessions, and virtual contests, which worked flawlessly. Adapting to technology, quickly transforming and pivoting, and making that swift decision to adopt all aided in the long run with our Digital presence.

I am also the Chief Growth Officer, at Valenta Growth Labs, which is an exclusive learning platform for professional and business leaders. This also helps me to learn, research, and teach about the latest technologies and innovations.

As A Successful Business Leader, What Advice Would You Present To The Young Women Who Aspire To Become Entrepreneurs In The Future?

My advice to young women and girls who want to make their mark is to become self-sufficient, surround themselves with a great team, mentors, and allies. One of the most crucial things all women have to do is to become self-sufficient. Self-sufficiency is the ability to live independently and establish a support structure for oneself to thrive. Because no one will develop a support system for you, it is up to you to do it. This is my most valuable asset, and I am proud to say that I am financially independent and living my life to the fullest due to this.
