Guide us through your academic history. What prompted your venture into the healthcare realm and your decision to specialize in cosmetic surgery?

I completed an MBBS at M.S. Ramaiah Medical College in Bengaluru, followed by an MS in General Surgery at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal. I did my super specialty training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. Subsequently, I pursued a fellowship in Aesthetic Surgery in Mumbai, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. These educational milestones laid a strong foundation, shaping my career and passion for improving patient care. During my rotatory internship, a dedicated Pediatric Surgeon inspired me to pursue a surgical specialty. During my residency with a plastic surgeon, I realized the transformative impact of Plastic Surgery. These experiences fueled my pursuit of further education in Cosmetic Surgery, driven by a desire to enhance lives and bolster self-confidence.

Illuminate us on your areas of expertise as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon. What range of procedures and treatments do you excel in?

My expertise spans microvascular surgery, onco-reconstructive surgery, congenital deformity corrective surgery, hand surgery, burns treatment, facial plastic surgery, hair transplant, rhinoplasty, surgical face lift, breast reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, body contouring procedures, abdominoplasty, post-bariatric body contouring, and vaginal rejuvenation surgery. I'm skilled in non-invasive and minimally invasive procedures like lasers, MNRF, HIFU, botox, fillers, and thread lifts. I had been a part of upper limb bilateral hand transplants during my residency. With expertise in both areas, I ensure optimal outcomes and patient satisfaction with personalized care and attention to detail.

What, in your view, are among the most significant challenges faced in your role as a cosmetic surgeon? How do you approach overcoming these obstacles?

As a cosmetic surgeon, a paramount challenge I face is aligning patients' expectations with achieving optimal aesthetic results. Patients seek enhancements in their appearance, and the true challenge lies in comprehending their specific needs and selecting the appropriate treatment. I address this through multiple counseling sessions, employing technological aids such as reference images, and cosmetic surgery simulating software, and establishing realistic expectations with patients. Subsequently, I translate these expectations into reality through customized cosmetic interventions.

Shed some light on the most pivotal professional milestone you have attained over the years. What makes these achievements significant to you?

My professional journey has been marked by significant milestones, beginning with the acquisition of skills through prestigious training institutes and fellowships with global leaders in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery. Dr. Subramania Iyer, Dr. Mohit Sharma, Dr. Kishore P, Dr. Sundeep V, and Dr. Jimmy Mathew laid the foundation of my career. Fellowships in Aesthetic Surgery in Mumbai, Italy, Spain, and the UK, especially under the mentorships of Dr. Milan Doshi and Dr. Giovanni Botti, were pivotal in mastering my craft. Collaborating with Dr. Rajesh Vasu at Star Hospitals, Hyderabad, is transformative, shaping me into the proficient surgeon I am today. These achievements signify my dedication to excellence and passion for growth in plastic surgery. They enable me to deliver exceptional results, ensuring patient satisfaction. Each milestone, from rigorous training to mentorship experiences, reinforces my commitment to providing the highest quality care. Knowing that my accomplishments directly impact patients' well-being propels me to continuously pursue excellence in my practice.

What is your outlook on the future trajectory of the cosmetic surgery industry in India? Which emerging trends within the industry do you anticipate will have the most significant impact?

As an observer in the Indian cosmetic surgery industry, I anticipate significant evolution driven by impactful trends. Technological advancements have democratized access to cosmetic services, catering to diverse socioeconomic groups. Surgeons are adapting to meet rising demand, utilizing lasers, focused ultrasounds, and radiofrequency treatments for better outcomes. The industry's growth has been robust, averaging 18-20 percent yearly. Advancements in lasers and fillers are noteworthy, with fillers now being used for buttock and breast enhancements. Thread lifts offer an alternative to traditional facelifts, showcasing the industry's commitment to innovation and meeting the changing consumer preferences. As a leader in cosmetic surgery, my guiding principle for success revolves around ongoing improvement and self-assessment. I strongly emphasize the significance of continuously progressing and seeking enhancement in all facets of my practice. This entails regularly reviewing my results and methods, pinpointing areas ripe for improvement, and actively honing my abilities. Through a commitment to perpetual growth and introspection, I guarantee that I consistently deliver top-tier care and attain optimal outcomes for my patients.
