With rising water pollution, depleting freshwater resources, and increasing industrial discharge, the need to translate scientific research into scalable, eco-friendly water solutions has never been more urgent. Traditional treatment methods often fall short in addressing long-term environmental impact, making sustainable innovation critical.

Bridging the gap between laboratory breakthroughs and real-world applications ensures effective, affordable, and environmentally safe solutions at scale, an approach that defines the work and vision of Dr Aditi Mullick.

Dr Aditi Mullick, Founder of Prasinos Tech Innovations, is a chemical engineer-turned-entrepreneur who is driving sustainable change in water and wastewater management.

With a strong research foundation and a passion for real-world impact, she has built a company focused on eco-friendly, scalable solutions for industries, water bodies, aquaculture and agriculture.

Her leadership blends scientific innovation with practical application, enabling the transition from conventional chemical treatments to safer, nature-based technologies that promote long-term environmental sustainability.

Below is an excerpt of Dr Aditi’s exclusive interaction with Women Entrepreneur Review magazine.

Turning research into real-world impact, DR Aditi leads with purpose, creating sustainable water solutions that protect ecosystems and shape a cleaner future

What inspired you to venture into sustainability and water technologies?

My inspiration stems directly from my academic background and research experience. During my PhD, I realized a significant gap between existing chemical-based treatment solutions and the growing need for environmentally safe alternatives. Traditional methods often harm aquatic ecosystems despite treating wastewater.

At the same time, industries and communities are increasingly seeking long-term, eco-friendly solutions. This motivated me to focus on sustainability-driven technologies. I also worked on real-world industrial problems during my research, which further pushed me to convert those ideas into practical, impactful products that could truly benefit the environment.

Could you tell us more about Prasinos Tech Innovations and the solutions the company offers?

We primarily focus on restoring and maintaining water quality across different sectors. One of our key innovations is an advanced buoy named SwanCav designed for water body restoration. It works effectively in lakes, ponds, and other stagnant water bodies, where issues like eutrophication, algal blooms, and oxygen depletion are common.

Our device, designed to float like a swan, uses low-power ultrasonic waves to control algal growth and improve water quality naturally. It has been deployed across multiple states in India in collaboration with government bodies.

In addition, we provide solutions for industrial and municipal wastewater treatment, including nanobubble systems, oxygenation systems, and ozone-based technologies. These enhance dissolved oxygen levels, promoting natural degradation of pollutants. We also extend our solutions to the agriculture and aquaculture sectors, ensuring healthier ecosystems overall.

Your work involves significant technological innovation. How do you address industry challenges like decentralized treatment and clean energy?

One of our core strengths is designing plug-and-play systems that are easy to integrate into existing infrastructure. Today, there is a strong demand for decentralized solutions that require minimal space and are easy to operate. Our technologies cater exactly to this need.

Whether it’s an industrial effluent treatment plant or a standalone system, our solutions can be seamlessly integrated to enhance efficiency. However, one of the biggest initial challenges were building trust.

Convincing industries and government bodies to adopt new technologies required demonstrations, pilot projects, and consistent engagement. Over time, as our solutions proved effective, acceptance grew significantly.

How did your time at IIT Kharagpur influence your entrepreneurial journey?

While I wasn’t deeply connected with the alumni network, my professors and research supervisors played a crucial role. Their guidance helped me understand real industry problems beyond theoretical knowledge.

They also provided opportunities to showcase my work within industrial networks. More importantly, my time there shaped my mindset, to think beyond academic publications and focus on creating tangible impact. That shift in perspective was instrumental in my decision to pursue entrepreneurship.

What are some key milestones and recognitions in your journey?

One of the biggest milestones has been transforming research ideas into products that are now implemented across industries and water bodies nationwide. We have expanded from a few states to a pan-India presence and have even begun exploring international markets.

We’ve also received several government grants during our early R&D phase, which were crucial for growth. Additionally, we’ve been recognized among the top water-based startups in Telangana and featured in reputed platforms like Better India and Forbes India.

What are your future plans?

Our primary goal is to scale globally and become a leading provider of sustainable water solutions. We aim to expand our manufacturing and operations internationally while continuing to innovate.

Collaboration is also key; we believe working with other leaders in this domain will accelerate impact. On a personal level, my goals are closely aligned with the company’s vision of driving meaningful environmental change.
