The role of a COO is arguably one of the most critical for any company’s growth. However, not many of us can name more than one recognized COOs. It was during the 2000s when companies aspired to build a flat power structure. As a consequence, the CEO’s role acquired extra responsibilities and the role of COO began to become redundant in a majority of large companies.

However, in today’s business climate, companies need to constantly innovate their operating models to align with newly emerging business landscape. This responsibility cannot alone be helmed by the CEO. As a consequence, we see the Chief Operating Officer role making a comeback. He is tasked with staying abreast of evolving regulatory compliance and making sure that workforce development never stops.

Companies are always at risk of suffering owing to external factors that are beyond one’s control. The COO stands as a shield and equips the company to stay safeguarded from said challenges.
