Lady Shri Ram College for Women Imparting Quality Education to Indian Women

The importance of women’s education can hardly be overstated. Every social reformer in the world has highlighted the criticality of educating women to ensure their empowerment.

Infact Brigham Young went on to state how educating women can have far reaching results. He has famously said, “You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation.”

Indeed, educating women has positive impact on her family and community’s wellbeing.

With the aim to educate Indian women, late Sir Shri Ram established the Lady Shri Ram College in 1956. Founded in the memory of his wide, the educational institution aimed to provide quality education to the women of India.

From modest beginnings in Daryaganj, Lady Shri Ram College for women has today come to be recognized as a seat of higher learning for women in India. A centre for academic excellence and achievement, it is today one of the finest institutions for Social Sciences, Humanities and Commerce, while also offering a B.Sc. Programme in Statistics. Professional courses like Elementary Education and Journalism are among its strengths.

The institution has honed some of the sharpest minds of India and the world including Menaka Gandhi, Nidhi Razdan, Yogita Bali, Dr Meenakshi Gopinath and Aung Saan Sii Kyi among various others.
